True Data Integration and Warehousing:

For truly meaningful reports that measure actual business goals, we integrate our customers online usage data from their web logs, page tags or both (hybrid solution) with their offline data such as articles, journals, customer accounts, subscription pricing, etc. into a relational database. This database is then used for all reporting interfaces and includes remote ODBC access for ad-hoc reporting. This provides our customers a 360 degree view of all their data that speaks the language of their business.

Data Feeds are Handled with Care:

The COUNTER reporting process requires multiple feeds from Publishers. The Scholarly iQ process contains the important step of proactively analyzing all incoming feeds for relational integrity and will cleanse the data based on agreed upon standards. Users will be notified by an automated email including a report of all findings made during this pre-processing step. Publishers are safe in knowing that their feeds are imported with care before COUNTER processing begins

Data is Stored Safely:

In order to support the large volume of usage data, the Scholarly iQ system is housed on dedicated redundant servers with a guaranteed 100% uptime. All data from server logs or tagged solutions will be stored in a relational database allowing for detailed reporting and ensuring future business requirements can be accommodated.

Nightly incremental and weekly full backups are conducted with offsite data replication. Databases are horizontally partitioned by year to ensure optimal performance and ease of maintenance with a minimum retention period of five years.
